Adlith A. Josephs

ADLITH A. JOSEPHS was born April 11, 1930 in Saint Andrews, Jamaica, WI to Violet and Hardis Hemmings. She was the oldest of three children, having two brothers, Ervin Hemmings (Monica) and Claudius Hemmings.

​As a teenager Adlith helped her mother sell her products at the market and went on to become a self-employed as a seamstress and a caterer. Adlith was a hard worker and enjoyed helping others.

​On May 8, 1955, at the age of 25 Adlith married Richard Josephs, the love of her life. Together they raised seven children. Adlith and her family relocate to the US from Jamaica WI. Richard insisted on her staying home. After all her years of hard work he wanted to take care of her. When her children were older she returned to work. Adlith also served as a minister's wife for over fifty years in The Church of God of Prophecy. She was well known as a prayer warrior and prayed fervently for her children as well as others. Adlith was a blessing to all who knew her.

​In addition to raising seven children Adlith and Richard also raised two grandchildren due to the passing of their daughter. She was a great matriarch in the world. Her family was always came first. She along with her husband left their family the greatest legacy of all, the knowledge of God our Father.

​Adlith was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph, Sr. and daughter, Eugenie (Jenny) Josephs. She is survived by six children: Merlyn Hinds, Nigel Josephs (Sharell), Denise Josephs, Pauline McCleary (Dave), John Josephs, Richard Josephs Jr. (Michelle); ten grandchildren: Paul Sr., Bryson, Joshua and Aryana; six great grandchildren: Donavon, Paul Jr., Jaden, Avery, Noah and Shaniya; and one great great grandchild: Avayah.

Family will receive friends Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, NY.  Funeral to follow at 1:00 pm.
