Welcome to the memorial page for

Bernard Brown, Sr.

January 11, 2017

BERNARD BROWN, SR was born April 15, 1945 in Flint, Michigan.  He departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Buffalo, New York, surrounded by the love of his loving family.

During the 1960’s, Bernard relocated to Buffalo, New York.  He attended East High School.  Later, he attained his GED.  He continued his education at Bryant & Stratton, graduating with his BA Degree.

Bernard was a man of many trades, working for Allpro Parking and the Veteran Affairs Regional Office in Buffalo, where he started in the mail room, working his way up during his 40 year tenure, retiring as a Veteran Counselor.

Bernard, being a natural flirt, met the former Miss Deborah Benson, whom had kicked him from under the table because he was flirting with another girl.  However, a long lasting friendship and romance  budded, and he married the love of his life on October 16, 1974.  To this 36 year union, four children were born.

Bernard liked to go fishing and would go oftentimes as a young man.  He also loved to play video games.  Aside from his flirtatious manner, Bernard was a family man who taught many valuable lessons to his children.  He taught what it meant to be of good courage, by showing his children how to stand up for themselves; he taught what it meant to sacrifice, by working hard to provide for his family; he taught what it meant to preserve family values, by providing a two-parent household for his family. Truly a teacher of integrity and dignity.

Bernard was a traditional family man, but he also was the life of any party– and he enjoyed it!  He enjoyed listening to his Motown music and would be heard singing, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow“?” by The Shirelles.  His favorite song was “It Wasn’t Me,” by Shaggy.  Bernard will be truly missed!

Bernard is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; parents, Willie and Marie Brown; and one sister, Zanetta Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memories four children, Bernard Brown Jr. and Willie B. Brown III, both of Buffalo, NY, Melinda Brown of Rochester, NY, and

Allan Brown (Jacqueline) of Memphis, TN; 14 grandchildren, Anjanette, Rickey, D’Andre, Corey, Bernard III, Adrianna, Brianna, Jaylin, Autumn, Jasmine, Allan Jr., Jordan, Mya, and Annaeia; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie B. Brown, II and a host of other family and friends.

Family will receive friends Saturday, January 21, 2017, 11 am at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave. Funeral to follow at 12 pm.
