Welcome to the memorial page for

Edward Williams

April 17, 2017

EDWARD WILLIAMS, affectionately called Eddie, was born November 10, 1928 in Monticello, Florida.

In ninth grade, Edward left school to help his financially struggling family.  Eddie and his friend decided to seek fortunes  in California, but fate led them to Buffalo, NY on May 8, 1958.  Having ran out of money, gas, and from sleeping in their car, Eddie decided to stay in Buffalo.  His first job was at Severson Real Estate as a maintenance worker.

Eddie liked to sing and dance. He was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church.  Later, he joined True Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Darius G. Pridgen. Eddie was a member of the True Bethel Baptist Church Power of Praise Choir; a True Bethel Boy Scout volunteer; a member of the original Stop the Violence Coalition; and active in the 100 Mighty Men Ministry.

Eddie earned his G.E.D. at the age of 82, exemplifying that all things are possible, leaving an imprint of encouragement.

Eddie was called home to glory and received his wings April 17, 2017 in Buffalo, NY.

Eddie is preceded in death by his mother, Louella Anthony.

He leaves to cherish his memory, longtime friend and Godson of over 50 years, Edward (Reola) Wiley; nieces, Betty J. (Curly) Byrd, Elaweze Hall, Thereasa (Solomon) Colson, Channell, Latesha, Ayana, Alasia, Amar, Janair, Chloe and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends Monday, April 24, 2017, 11am at True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon.
