Frank K. Martin

FRANK K. Martin received the greatest grace of eternal peace; He was called home from this life into the open arms of the Creator on October 14, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Buffalo General Medical Center.  Frank was born May 1, 1944 in McCormick, South Carolina to the late Albert Bessie Martin;  He was one sixteen children.

In the 1960’s, Frank relocated to Buffalo, NY. He received his education in the Buffalo Public school system. He was gainfully employed for 19 years as a laborer at Republic Steel and after their closing, he was employed by Areata Graphics and Bethlehem Steel, where he retired.

Frank was a devoted volunteer for ten years at Erie County Medical Center in transportation. He was voted “Volunteer of the Month” four times during his tenure. Frank was always willing to help anyone who needed him.

Frank was an avid gardener and enjoyed baking his signature dessert, peach cobbler for others to enjoy. He also was an devoted sports fan, in particular, basketball and football.  He was an active member of Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness under the leadership of Elder Theodore Hamilton, where he served on the Senior Usher Board.

On September 2, 1989, Frank united in holy matrimony to Tosca Pierce, sharing 29 years of beautiful companionship. His legacy will continue to live on and he will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Tosca Martin; sons, Barry, Cedric, Bryant Martin, and Chris Simmons, all of Buffalo, NY; daughter, Artrenia Freeman of SC; sisters, Addie Lee Scott of Cincinnati, OH and Georgette Wiggleton (Josh) of SC; brothers, Barnett (Thelma), Homer (Mary), Edward (Lee) and Wallace Martin (Lillian), all of SC, Andrew Martin (Mildred) of Indianapolis, IN, and Douglas Albert Martin of Florida; nine grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.

He leaves to mourn a host of relatives and friends.  Family will receive friends 10:00 am, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness, 32 Oakgrove, Ave., Buffalo, New York, 14208.  Funeral to follow at 12 noon.

Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
