Jean D. Jones

MOTHER JEAN D. JONES, was born on July 9, 1933 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, daughter of Ruth Inez Pleasant.  Mother Jones accepted Christ early in life.

She relocated to Buffalo, NY and worked at Dan Montgomery, NY Telephone Company and Private Duty at Niagara Lutheran Nursing Home were among her many jobs.  Mother Jones participated in various roles at Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness.  She served as the Church Secretary, leader of the Sunshine Band, sang soprano in the Adult Choir and was active in many other auxiliaries.

She implemented her talents wherever her services were useful and needed.  She never complained.  She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt grandmother, counselor, ambassador and labored for the Lord.

Mother Jones was preceded in death by her mother Ruth I. Pleasant; her brother James Sims; sisters: Audrey Sims and Villa Mae Jones; sisters-in-law: Mattie Jones and Marie Harris; brothers-in-laws: Edward Jones, Sr. and Walter Jones; her beloved daughter Andrea L. (Elbert) Cummings, Betty Clarke; niece Beverly Sims and grandson Eric D. Haygood.

Mother Jean D. Jones leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of over 50 years, Deacon James LeRoy Jones; grandsons, Sean Kidd, Devon K (Tiffany) Kidd; granddaughters, Toyia D. (Leon) Gray, Deneice Dickerson and Jacqueline R. Adams; special granddaughters, Connie, Anita, Annette and Bev; special niece, Gala (Wayne) Sanford; special daughters, Faye (James) Solomon and Brenda (Bugg) Dickerson; 40 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren; brother, Franklin (Geraldine) Pleasant Jr. of Flint, Michigan; sisters-in law, Alma Bell of Monrow, Georgia, Frankie Jones of Bronx, New York and Patricia Jones of Douglasville, Georgia; brother-in-law, James Harris of Sweetwater, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews and "all her children" near and far.  Those whose life she touched will forever have lasting memories.

Family will receive friends Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Mt. Zion Church of God Holiness, 32 Oakgrove Ave., Buffalo, New York.  Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at St. Matthew's Cemetery.
