Welcome to the memorial page for

Jerry Merriweather

August 16, 2016

JERRY MERRIWEATHER, affectionately known as “Jerry Merry,” was born February 28, 1956 in Buffalo, New York to the late Charles Herman and Ethel Mae Merriweather.  Jerry was one of 16 children: nine boys and seven girls.

Jerry was educated in the Buffalo Public School system.  He continued his education, perfecting his trade as a Mechanic.  Jerry first was gainfully employed by Jim Kelly’s Volkswagon Car Dealership.  Everyone in the community knew that they could rely on him for his time and services whenever it was needed.

Among many other things, Jerry especially had a passion for cooking.  His oxtails and beans and rice were one of his specialties.  But you knew not to dare ask about how he made his BBQ sauce.  He would say, “If I tell you, I gotta kill you!”

Jerry departed this life Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in Buffalo, New York.

Jerry is preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, Larry, Charles, Rufus and Kevin and one grandson, Noah.

His beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of everyone he loved.  He leaves his wife, Monique Merriweather; seven children, Janica, Latasha (Tamika), Eveyny, Santana, Lil Jerry, Javont’e and Jerrell; eleven grandchildren, Edward, Tariq, Chauncey, Tanas, Makai, Zamari, Tatiyanna, Zyaire, Naveen and Zaniyah; one great-grandchild, Carter; four brothers, Dennis, Tyrone, Roosevelt and Keith; seven sisters, Beverly, Carla, Marsha, Voncier, Sandra, Sonia, Tonya and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends Monday, August 29, 2016, 10am at True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St. Funeral to follow at 11am.
