Johnnie Mae (Robins) McCallum

JOHNNIE MAE (Robins) MCCALLUM was born December 26, 1942 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to thee late Floyd and Mamie Robins.  She was one of six children.

Johnnie Mae attended Druid High in Tuscaloosa, but later relocated to Buffalo and continued her education in the Buffalo School System.  Years later, she met Malcolm Porter, and to this union a daughter was born.  After the death of Malcolm, she met and married Jasper McCallum, who also preceded her in death.

Johnnie Mae entered into the medical field and was employed at Emergency Hospital, which later became Sheehan Memorial Hospital, as a CNA.  She continued her education and worked at Columbus Hospital as a LPN, from which she retired.

Johnnie Mae loved to cook for her family and people in her community. She never turned away a hungry stranger and was loved by all who met her. She had a loving and caring heart and was "as sweet as pie."

Johnnie Mae is preceded in death by two sisters, Elouise Robins and Mattie Smith; and three brothers, Leroy, Henry, and James Robins.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving daughter, Tracey Regina Robins; one grandson, DeMario Levon Robins; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Tamaria Robins; a dear cousin, Shirley Jones and a special friend of the family, Ernie Curry, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, August 10, 2017, 11am at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo. Funeral will follow at 12 noon. Interment held at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
