LENA MAE WHITE was born in Chester County, South Carolina on August 30, 1930 to the late Curry White and the late Mary McCullough of Edgemoor, South Carolina.
Lena would later meet Curtis Boyd Sr. who also resided in Chester County and they were united in holy matrimony on December 24, 1950, after which they would move to Buffalo, New York where they settled to raise a family. Born out of this union the couple was blessed with three children, two sons, Curtis(Annette) Boyd, Jr and Bobby Boyd and one daughter, Jeraline Boyd.
Lena professed her love for Christ in her early years in Chester County, South Carolina and when she moved to Buffalo, New York she continued to serve and worship the Lord at Durham Memorial A.M.E Zion Church and served with the Sisterhood until she became physically unable to do so.
Lena took pride in being a home maker and took pleasure in providing home cooked meals and desserts for everyone, especially for her grandchildren. Family, friends and her church were her priority.
Her husband, Curtis Boyd Sr. and her son, Bobby Boyd preceded her in death.
Lena’s greatest legacy was her love for God, her husband, her three children; five grandchildren, Lacrecia Boyd, Theresa (Shaun) Roberson, Curtis (Connie) Boyd III, Tyrena Boyd and Bobby Boyd Jr. and seven great grandchildren; Chaleia Boyd, Chi’Marri Boyd, Curtis Boyd IV, Mia Roberson, Ava Colvin, Kayla Boyd and Arianna Boyd. Lena also leaves to mourn one sister, Alberta McCullough; two brothers, Charles Lee and Joe (Sadie) Lewis; one uncle, Dudley Patton and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, her dear friend, Vivian Pompeii and other devoted friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 3, 2016, 11am at Durham Memorial AME Zion, 174 E. Eagle St.. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at St. Matthew's Cemetery- W. Seneca, NY.
