Shirley J Daniels

SHIRLEY JEAN DANIELS, daughter of the late Willester and Susie Mae (Knight) Daniels was born on May 9, 1947 in Buffalo, NY.  She had one sibling, an older brother, the late James (Jim) Knight.

Shirley as a young woman learned of the Lord and received the salvation of Christ for her eternal life.

Shirley received her primary education in Buffalo Public Schools #48 and #53. After graduating from School #53, she attended and graduated from East High School.  Shirley enrolled in Bryant and Stratton Business Institute and received a degree and certification in Medical Records. Shirley participated in a special program in Buffalo General Hospital at the age of sixteen, that led her to pursue a career in Medical Records Technology. In 1972, she became Director of Medical Records at Buffalo General Hospital Community Mental Health Center.

In Sept of 1964, Shirley had a son, Hugh Davis Jr.  In 1975, she relocated to Dayton, Ohio. There, she was employed at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. In 1981, she returned to Buffalo when her mother’s health began to fail to care for her. Some time, thereafter, she was gainfully employed at the Erie County

Medical Center working with Western Regional Emergency Services, where she remained until her health failed.

Shirley enjoyed music and concerts, especially jazz festivals.  She enjoyed traveling, attending movies, and she had a passion for gardening and growing plants of various kinds.

Shirley transitioned peacefully on the morning of Friday, September 9, 2016.

She leaves to cherish her found memories: a loving son Hugh. She also leaves a cousin, raised with her as a sister, Deborah Thomas; her Goddaughter, LaTonia Lattimore; and a host of cousins, along with two special lifelong friends, Leta Hooser and Robbie Lattimore, as well as a host of many friends and neighbors.

Family will receive friends Thursday, September 15, 2016, 11am at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave. Funeral to follow at 12 noon.
