WANDA L. GRAY was born on April 1, 1964 in Lackawanna, NY to Richard L. Gray and the late Dorothy J. Gray (Collier).
Wanda made a comittment to Christ at an early age. She was confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul in Buffalo, NY. Wanda was later baptized at St. Martin de Porres during her early adult years. She most recently became a member of Breath of Life Revival Ministries, where she rededicated her life to Christ. She truly loved the Lord and would often display her Christ-like character by reminding friends and family that, "First and foremost, is the Man Upstairs, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
Wanda attended Bennett High School and due to her advanced learning abilities, she was given early entrance into Medaille College.
Wanda spent some of her adult years residing in Spearsville, LA and Washington, D.C.
During her professional career, she held positions at The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter, Hopeville Center for Youth and also worked alongside her mother, Dorothy J. Collier, at Friends to The Elderly Youth and Family Center (Dorothy J. Collier Community Center).
Wanda was an avid reader and a natural poet. She had a natural gift of encouragement and caretaking, as she often poured out her loving heart on others. She was very giving of herself, as well as her resources. She was also very protective of her family and loved ones.
She was the mother of one daughter, her beloved Genkia Brown, who meant the world to her.
Wanda is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy J. Collier; and brother, Willie J. Hamilton.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Richard L. Gray; one daughter, Genkia Brown; sisters, Sheila Hamilton Dabney (Robert), Alicia Hamilton, Kimberly Gray, and April Thompson (Tony); brothers, Darren Johnson and Derrick Hamilton; nieces, Jetaun Jones, Mashika Cassiano (Roy), Andrea Carrasquillo (Jorge), Iesha Hamilton, and Lexi; nephews, Traivel Daniels, Miles Hamilton, Darren L. Johnson Jr, Alex Hamilton, Martinez Hamilton, Ivan Thompson, and Breon; and a host of great nieces, great nephews; aunts, Hattie L. Jones, Hazel, Julie Rice, Annie, and Elouise; one uncle, Frank L. Gray; favorite cousin, Tracey Morris; best friend, Lisa Banks, Sharone Terry and Michelle; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2017, 11am at Bethesda World Harvest International Church, 1365 Main St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon.
