WILBUR R. FLETCHER was born January 11, 1962 in Buffalo, New York to the late Mary Jo Fletcher. He departed this life Monday, July 31, 2017.

Wilbur, affectionately known as "Randy" and "Georgie," was educated in the Buffalo Public School System. He attended McKinley High School, later receiving his GED.  Becoming visually impaired 11 years ago, Wilbur was not easily dispelled. His resilience exemplified his will to independently achieve his goals in spite of his disability. Refusing to learn Braille, his tenacity allowed him to do what may have seemed impossible to others. His earnest desire to complete his education afforded him his Bachelor's Degree at Buffalo State College, where he was to walk the stage on August 15, 2017.

Over his lifetime, Wilbur was employed as a Direct Care Aide, Correctional Officer, and recently, a Counselor at Goodwill Industries, Inc. Wilbur loved to bowl. He also loved to listen to all genres of music, and it was usually loud. Wilbur was a loving and caring man, and he loved his family dearly. September of 1994, he met Ms. Victoria Nance, sharing 23 years of companionship together. He was a loving father, companion, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed.

Wilbur leaves to cherish his memories his loving companion, Victoria; three sons, Wilbur Fletcher Jr, Devvon Fletcher and Justice Fletcher; Richard "Man-Man" Nance, Bernard "Goober" Nance, Gerald "Gizmo" Nance, and Chester "CJ" Nance, of whom he loved as his own; Aunt Barbara (Oliver) Robinson.  Four sisters; Cydne Handley, Shawn Hairston (Richmond), Futch Roslyn Saunders and Stephanie Mc Cleary.  Two brothers, Timothy Saunders and Mannie Saunders and a host of grandchildren and other loving family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, 10 pm-12 noon at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith"
