Willie Dean Jackson

WILLIE DEAN JACKSON was one of eleven children born January 2, 1948 to the late Willie Ester Mitchell and Callie Lee in Docena, Alabama.  On December 2, 2016, she peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

 Willie Dean relocated to Brookside, AL, where she attended Brookside Elementary, before attending Hooper City High School.  She gained employment at South Highland Hospital of Birmingham and became a civil rights activist, participating in the movement and march to secure equality and peace for all.

Willie Dean Jackson and her six children relocated to Buffalo, NY in 1980.  After over 20 years of service, Willie retired from St. Augustine, where she compassionately cared for others and prepared some of the most delicious dishes.   

Willie was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhoda Hale of Buffalo, NY; two sisters, Shirley Coleman of Birmingham, AL and Shirley Coleman of Buffalo, NY; two brothers, Alfonzo (Selena) Lee of Haines City, FL and Kenneth Watford of Buffalo, NY.

Willie leaves lots of love with her children, Sonya Hale, Shemeda (Eddie) Williams, Rosalinda Hale, Edward Hale and Yolanda Hale, all of Buffalo, NY; sisters, Ester (Harry) Dowdell of Birmingham, AL, Sharon (Dwayne) Jones of Birmingham, AL, Ratina Watford of Birmingham, AL and Cathy Watford of Buffalo, NY; brothers, Jerry Lee of  Birmingham, AL and William (Nita) Watford, of Birmingham, AL; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who miss you dearly.

 Family will receive friends Saturday, December 10, 2016, 12 noon at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, NY 14215 .  Funeral to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. John Cemetery.
