WILLIE JAMES SMITH, affectionately known as “Bobby,” was born November 20, 1954 in Buffalo, New York to Emma Bryant and stepfather, Freddie Bryant. He attended Buffalo Public School #75, Clinton Jr. High and Emerson High School. He enlisted and served in the United States Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1977.
Willie made a career of protecting people; he worked as a Security Guard for Sister’s Hospital for the last 20 years.
Willie was a people’s person. He was very lovable and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He enjoy telling jokes and making people laugh. Most of all he loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews, of whom he loved as his own.
Willie received his wings on Thursday, February 25, 2018. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Freddie Bryant and nephew, Darren Bryant, Jr.
Cherishing Willie’s memory and celebrating his life is his mother, Emma Bryant; sisters, Deborah, Betty and Linda; brothers, Steven and Darren; special aunt, Ruth Dial; nieces, Yolanda, Brittany, Daria and Dominique; nephews, Alroy (Vickie), Michael, and Darius; great nieces, Aliyah and Audrey; great nephews, Shamal, Michael Jr, Alroy Jr and Bryson and a host of loving family and friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, March 3, 2018, 11am at Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon.
