BERNADETTE LOUISE ROSS, affectionately known as "Bern," was born on February 17, 1957 to Robert and Lucinda Ross of Buffalo, NY. She attended various elementary schools in Buffalo and graduated from South Park High School.
Bernadette continued her education attending Erie Community College, ultimately graduating from Bryant and Stratton with a Nursing Degree. Bernadette held various titles throughout her life, but no greater privilege was that of being a devoted mother to her daughter, Rhonda Smith. Bern had a huge heart and wanted all children to be loved unconditionally, she willingly opened her heart, arms, and her home when she adopted Dorian and Latajah Ross. Bern had the keen ability to selflessly care for others; She would often provide a safe home for those in need. Bern had a passion for cooking. She delighted in having big dinners with family and friends, encouraging all to come together in love over some "good ol' home cooking." Bernadette's passion for caring extended outside her home and into the community providing a community pantry; She believed that the "Ultimate blessing was being a blessing."
Bernadette was a devout member of New Beginning Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Althea P. Baines. She served diligently with the Ladies Ministry and the Hospitality/Cooking Ministry. She used her love for cooking to serve God. If you were so inclined to indulge in Bernadette's fine cuisine you know that it was made with love.
She truly believed that through Christ all things are possible. It was her abiding faith that sustained her during her illness. Her faith in God never faltered. Bernadette's life was a testimony of her faith. Bernadette answered her final call on May 7, 2018.
Bernadette is preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Ross; brothers, Leon Robinson, James Scott, Wardell Ross, and Philip Bonner; and sister, Sandra Sullivan.
