CALVIN RUDOLPH FONVILLE was born November 30, 1940 in New Haven, North Carolina to the late Beulah Fonville (Russell) and David Fonville. Calvin was the baby; the last born son of eight Fonville children. At the tender age of two, Calvin’s mother died during childbirth, leaving him to be raised, loved, and spoiled rotten by his oldest sister, Mary Smith (Fonville) and late cousin, Dora.
A Time To Plant And Grow
Calvin and two of his siblings (Mary and Willie) later journeyed North to Buffalo, New York. Calvin was blessed to have found two loves in his lifetime: the late Ora Lee Lewis and later in life, Judy Ray. Calvin became the loving father of nine children: Lynnette, Tony, Terry, Tina, Stafford, Viola, Annissa, Amena, and Debbie, who proceeds him in death.
A Time To Live
Calvin was a Renaissance Man; an intellectual, artistic, and enlightened angel walking among us. If you heard him speak, you knew to listen. If you knew him, you loved him. He was a self-taught, jack-of-all trades and master of many. During his lifetime, he served honorably in the United States Air Force, owned several businesses (restaurant, tiki shop, and an odds and end store), while also being the go-to man for home, appliance, and computer repair. Brilliance was Calvin's thing.
