Donald J. Ivey, Sr.

DONALD J. "Donnie" IVEY Sr., 64 of Buffalo, New York passed away at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY, on Friday, September 14, 2018 due to an array of medical conditions. 

Donnie was born on December 7, 1953 in Buffalo, New York to the late J.L. Ivey Sr. and Thelma Ivey.  He was the 3rd of 4 sons born to that union.  Donnie would go on to graduate from Kensington High School in 1972.  He then attended Bryant and Stratton college, while also working as a shoe salesman.  Donnie was a natural salesman and eventually became an exceptional phone sales representative. Donnie married Renette Jones in 1988; from that union 2 sons were born: Donald "Dante" Ivey II and Devon Ivey.  A tragic fall in 1998, would leave Donnie paralyzed  from the waist down, but yet in still, Donnie continued to embrace life and live it to the fullest.  Donnie then met his now fiancee' Vicki Pryor, adding two daughters: Brittany Jade and Ariel Pryor into the family.

To know Donnie was to love him.  As a child, he was loved and adored by his entire family.  Donnie was always lighthearted and happy in nature.  His laughter, spontaneity and witty sense of humor always kept people coming back for more.  Simply put, Donnie was the life of the party.  He will be remembered as being an optimist, an encourager, a source of inspiration,  a fighter,  a champion, and always on the best dressed in the room.

Donnie also leaves to cherish his memories one granddaughter Jada Marie Ivey, two brothers J.L. Ivey Jr. and Nathaniel Ivey (predeceased by brother Charles Ivey).  Stepbrothers Ernest, Dennis, and Michael.  Stepsisters Deborah and Cynthia and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

Family will receive friends Saturday, 10 AM at Bethel AME, 1525 Michigan Ave.  Funeral to follow at 11 AM.
