Janet A Meadows

JANET ANEDA MEADOWS, a long standing active member and trustee of Macedonia Baptist Church in Buffalo, NY, died Saturday after falling ill to cancer. She was 82. Born April 6, 1935, in Ormond Beach, Florida, Janet and her family moved to Buffalo, when she was a young teenager.  It was in Buffalo that she gave her life to Christ, was baptized in Macedonia Baptist Church and spent the majority of her life as a devoted member of the church.  Janet graduated from Girls Vocational High School (formerly Fosdick-Masten Park H.S., currently City Honors School), and attended D’Youville College.

Janet worked various jobs during her life including the US Post Office and Buffalo General Hospital but she was most fond of her work with the church where she spent years as a church trustee, Director of the Senior Choir, and an influential member of the Usher board.  Among other things, Janet was in charge of decorating the church with beautiful floral arrangements for all special occasions.  In her later years, she took this talent and started her own business of designing silk flower arrangements for social and corporate events and parties, and added to her artistic flair the creation of unique hats for ladies. 

Janet is predeceased by her parents, Clarence James and Edith Aneda Larry (née Goodwin), and is survived by her son, Huby Mytch Meadows III;  daughter, Edythe Aneda Meadows-Williams and her husband, Kenneth; grandchildren: Jason and Cherita Meadows, Stacey Arthur, Jessica Meadows-Tuerffs, and Philip Fischer; 5 great grandchildren: Mela, Ava, Kira, Tetsuo and Gunnar; her sister, Genevieve Johnson and husband Bernard and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday, November 30, 2017, 11am at Macedonia Baptist Church, 237 E. North St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
