Mariam Salter Obituary

MARIAM PAMELA FAITH SALTER was born on February 10, 1972 to Norman C. Salter Sr. and Mamie L. Gilbert Jones in Buffalo, New York.

Mariam, commonly know as “Pam,” attended McKinley H.S.; graduated Job Corps with an Interior Design Certification and Continental School of Beauty with Certification.

Mariam, commonly know as “Pam,” worked at Roswell Park Hospital – The Witness Project as a data analysis and The Community Health Center of Buffalo as a Community Outreach Coordinator.

Pam loved and lived life to the fullest.  She was fully confident that her life was pleasing to the Lord, and she led this by example.  She would often say…”I mean Jesus, and this is not a play thing.”

Pam was ordained as Elder and Youth Pastor and was very active with youth.  It was her heart’s desire to give youth opportunities to enjoy and literally explore the world around them by planning trips and  giving them experiences that many would not have known existed.  Pam was also one of the  founders of a gospel drill team, “Gospel Warriors,” that won many New York State Championships.

Praise dancing was also one of her many passions. Leading and instructing  others to create an atmosphere for worship was very important to her and she did not have any problem sitting anyone down that didn’t create that atmosphere.

Pam truly loved her family. Yearly, Pam would plan a family vacation, from renting Mansions in other cities, going to Disney World, to cruising the ocean for her family to take a break from their everyday activities to relax, have fun, and enjoy time together. When anything pleased her you would hear “Yessssssss!” and you knew it was truly alright with her.

Pam was ordained as Elder and Youth Pastor under First Holy Temple (Apostle M. Daniel), then a faithful and committed member of Remnant at Rehoboth   Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Samuel McDougald Sr. until her  passing.

On Friday, October 5, 2018, Mariam Pamela Faith Salter received the greatest grace of eternal peace; she was called home from this life into the open arms of the Creator.

Pam leaves in her passing two daughters, Sharece A. Blake and Ariel N. Blake; parents, Norman C. Salter Sr. and Mamie L. Gilbert Jones; siblings, Keith Gilbert, Dena (Samuel) McDougald, Norma Salter, David (Charmaine) Salter, Norman Salter Jr., and Nathan Salter; nieces and nephews, Domonique (Kenny) Leftwhich, Sam (Sade) McDougald Jr., Brandon (Shanea) McDougald, Alicia (Thomas) Hicklin, Jerome Woodard, David Salter Jr., Divad Salter, Tasjane Salter and Isaiah Salter; three Goddaughters, Marlena Marti, Naomi Marti, and Christina Robins; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving family and friends.

She was everyone’s sister, friend and aunt. She will be deeply missed!

Family will receive friends Sun 3pm - 6pm at Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore St. Mon 10 am at First Centennial Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral to follow at 11am.
