MARY JOYCE YOUNG (affectionately known as Joyce) was born in Prentiss, Mississippi on April 17, 1943, and was the only child of the late James and Sweetie Mae McNair-Gray. Joyce was gainfully employed in the Receptionist/Secretarial industry for over 25 years and was employed by Mod Pac, Inc. for over 10 years at the time of her illness. Being involved in the church was very important to Joyce and she was a faithful supporter of the Faith Chapel Church of God in Christ.
Joyce fought a good fight and endured hardness as a good soldier, and surrendered to God’s Master Plan during the early evening of October 19, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital after a short illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 50 years, Rev. Dr. Levi Young; three daughters, Stephanie Renee Young of Washington, DC, Kim Millender of San Jose, California and, Elissia Pratt of Buffalo, NY; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one Godchild, Lyle B. Jarmon J; one uncle, Jim McNair; two aunts, Maggie Jackson and Bertha Lee Archie; two nephews; Pastor Carver D. Jarmon II (Valerie) and Lyle B. Jarmon, Sr. (Dr. Yolanda); sister-in-law, Viola Jarmon, three very special sister-cousins, Nell Walton, Shirley Montgomery and Pam Jackson; very dear friends, Edd R. Martin and Shirley M. Rainey as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends during the memorial service Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 12 noon at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave. Buffalo, New York 14215.
