Modell Gault Sr. Obituary

MODELL GAULT SR. was born May 12, 1924 to the late Mary Jane and Christopher C. Gault in Pacolet, SC.  He was the second born to that union and lost his twin brother Odell in infancy.  Modell peacefully entered into eternal rest n Monday, December 2, 2019.

Modell attended Zion Hill High School in Pacolet.  Upon accepting Christ, he was baptized and began his faith walk at an early age in life with the Gethsemane Baptist Church. 

He was joined in holy matrimony to Emma Hazel Lewis in 1948.    To this union were born Modell Gault Jr. and Michele Ann Gault.  He remarried in 1957 to Essie Mae Whatley and to that union were born: Anthony, Faren & Ylonda.

Modell's early life was consumed with school, church and chores.  He left Pacolet, which was considered the town, population about 300.  He moved to Roebuck, SC and lived with his aunt and uncle before moving to Buffalo in 1942.  Modell lived in a rooming house operated by his aunt Inez Jones, who was his mother's sister.  He found work at Dunlop Tire & Rubber Co. in Tonawanda, NY.  While working at Dunlop, Modell operated a taxi for the Broadway Car Co.  His Moniker was "Car three Five".  He was also very socially conscience.  Modell served as a union steward, at Dunlop Tires. After retiring from Dunlpo he took a job at Unite Airline Security.  He was fond of saying, "If they ask me to do any work, I'm going to quit".  One of Modell's favorited past timed was his daily walk at Delaware Park which he enjoyed with his fellow retirees.  Their shift started at 6 am.  He was also, a member of Delavan-Grider Mc Donald's coffee clutch.  They would take their show on the road, and visit other coffee shops in town and was proud of his "Life Membership" to the NAACP.

Bro. Gault united with the Calvary Baptist Church where he was faithful and dedicated member of the Ushers Ministry and was a faithful and active member until he could no longer attend worship services and other ministry opportunities due to illness.  He loved his church and was  a member for over 60 years and took pride in his time on the the Ushers Ministry.  Bro. Gault, was a dedicated servant under the leadership of the late Pastor L.T. Boyce, Pastor Troy A. Bronner, Pastor David A. Keaton, Pastor Quinton Chad Foster and presently Pastor Corey B. Gibson.

He was also a man of impeccable style, and was known to be "cleaner that then board of health", as he used to say.  He most certainly had a gift of gab, and took pleasure in sharing that gift with the world.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Christoper C. and John Henry Gault; sisters: Dorothy Moore and Ida M. Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memories, caviness/geneneso sons: Modell Gault Jr. (Freddie Mae), Anthony Wayne Gault (Marilyn); daughters: Michele Ann Gault, Faren Gault-Wilson (Avery) and Ylonda Gault; 9 grandchildren: Na'Tasha, Shelia, Delia, Jason, Trinity, Cole, Jamaar, Janeen; brother: McDaniel Gault; sister-in-law: Edna Gault; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receives friends 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1184 Genesee Street, Buffal0, New York.  Funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, New York,
