OSCAR RUDOLPH MONTERRO was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 14, 1937 to Anibal Monterro and Ophelia Jackson. He later resided with his adoptive parents, Molly and Slaughter.

Oscar was educated in the Buffalo Public School System. He attended Public School #32, Bennett Park Montessori and went on to graduate at Emerson High School. After graduation, Oscar enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged.

Later in life, Oscar became interested in the sport of boxing when he joined the Police Athletic League (P.A.L.), earning respect as a semi-pro boxer. After 25 years of gainful employment with Mobile Oil Refinery, he turned his attention to the business world and became the owner and operator of M&M Cleaning Services in Alabama, which he successfully managed before retiring. Following retirement, he spent his time going to baseball games and enjoying football.

On September 25, 2017, Oscar received the greatest grace of eternal peace; He was called home from this life into the open arms of the Creator.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Molly and Mel Slaughter; wife, Maggie Monterro; daughter, Edith Monterro-Pittman; two grandsons, Adrian and Antwan Little; and great- granddaughter, Kayla Medura. 

Oscar leaves to cherish his memory six children; one son, Kyle Monterro and five daughters, Karen Monterro, Renee Pratcher, Nicole Monterro, Aderienne (Adessa) Monterro and Shaneka Monterro;  one sister, Minnie Slaughter; one brother, Henderson Slaughter and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other loving family and friends.

Family will receive friends Monday, October 2, 2017, 11am at Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at St. Matthew's Cemetery.
