REGINA HUTCHINS, a 69 year resident of Buffalo and Lackawanna, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Regina was born May 2, 1926, in Birmingham, AL to Regis and Helen (Moore) Adams. She retired from Erie County Health Center after more than 30 years of service.
In 1941, Regina married Henderson Hutchins, and together they raised a wonderful and loving family. She was the secret to the family’s success; not only was she an excellent cook and homemaker, but she also played the role of counselor, teacher, friend and neighborhood mom. Throughout her 92 years of life, she helped guide many of us through times of uncertainty with her keen insight and bountiful wisdom.
Regina was very well read, in fact, no matter the question, Regina Hutchins always had the answer. She was an avid storyteller and an Alabama patriot with a profound love for Birmingham.
Her favorite pastime was reading, listening to music, and relaxing on her front porch while watching people. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Regina is survived by her sons, Henderson Hutchins (Susan), Charles Marvin Hutchins (Emma), Aubrey J. Hutchins (Sharon), and Reginald Hutchins (Helen); daughter-in-law, Bertha Hutchins, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Also, cherishing her memory is one daughter-in-love, Donna Reese; two sons-in-love, Adam Sumlin and Waverly Jones; her devoted friends, Willis Noble, Joseph Smith and Eddie Herndon; and an extensive community of kind and loving friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Henderson Hutchins; her parents, and her son, Louis D. Hutchins.
The Hutchins family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone for their support and love especially in her final days.
Family will receive friends Saturday, November 10, 2018, 11am at St. Martin DePorres, 555 Northampton St. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
