Darren Timothy Woods
June 24, 1967 - May 14, 2024
Darren Timothy Woods, 56, of Buffalo, NY, passed away on May 14, 2024, after a courageous
battle with multiple health issues. Born on June 24, 1967, to Charity Woods and Robert Layne in
Buffalo, NY, Darren grew up in a loving home that fostered his many passions and talents.
Darren attended School 8 and Campus West, where he was an active participant in after-school
programs, swimming, and woodshop. During his youth, he also pursued studies to become a
pastor, demonstrating his deep understanding of scripture and unwavering passion for his
spiritual calling.
A graduate of Bennett High School, Darren embarked on a diverse career path. He initially
worked as a security officer before finding his niche as a bus driver. Over the years, he
contributed his skills and dedication to NFTA Metro, the University at Buffalo, and Parkview
Pharmacy, among others.
In 2007, Darren met his lifelong partner, Benita Rivera, under extraordinary circumstances. At
the time, Darren was very ill, and Benita, his nurse, provided the care that nursed him back to
health. Their relationship blossomed from this profound connection, and they shared a beautiful
life together. Darren and Benita enjoyed the company of two beloved cats and the joy of family
gatherings with her children, grandchildren, sisters, and a wide circle of loved ones and friends.
Benita's unwavering love and care sustained Darren throughout their years together and until his
final moments.
Darren was a car enthusiast with a particular love for motorcycles. He was an active member of
the Top Guns motorcycle club, where he was affectionately known as 'Dark Vader.' In his spare
time, Darren could often be found riding motorcycles, buying and selling cars, spending time
with his cherished family and friends, or sharing a laugh with those he loved.
Darren was predeceased by his father, Robert Layne, and his brother, Eddie 'Michael' Woods. He
is survived by his devoted partner, Benita Rivera, two sisters, Betty Woods and Nicole Woods,
and his brothers, Bobbie Woods, Jerome Woods, Jones ‘Ricky’ Bradberry, and Ramone
Bradberry. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
who will miss him dearly.
Darren's life was marked by his resilience, passion, and the deep connections he formed with
those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
