David Laguerre Obituary

DAVID TERRANCE LAGUERRE, affectionately called "Terry," was born August 14, 1954 in Buffalo, New York to Eduardo and Thelma Laguerre, who they themselves were affectionately known as Mr. Eddie and Ms. Eloise. He was the third of five children.

David accepted Christ into his life at an early age, was baptized at Sacred Heart R.C. Church and also St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, where he attended both churches with his parents. David was a lifelong resident of Buffalo, New York, and for a short time lived in Dunkirk, New York. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School, graduated from Bishop Turner High School and went on to continue his education at Bryant and Stratton Business Institute.

David was employed at Computer Task Group (CTG) on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, New York for forty (40) years as an IT Account Manager until suddenly becoming ill a year ago. Due to the seriousness of his illness, he took a medical leave of absence, always looking forward to returning to his position at CTG. He was still employed there at the time of his death.

Terry was a hard worker who started his own business, Timberman Tree Removal Services, and performed many services for businesses and private property owners throughout the Buffalo-Niagara area. He instilled hard work ethics in his children, nieces and nephews who accompanied him on many of the jobs. David was also a board member and volunteer at Buffalo ReUse, where he spent time organizing and preparing material for resale to the community.

During his life, Terry enjoyed singing and was known to frequently burst out in song or whistle a tune. He also enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips with parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends, where many  "fish tales" was told upon their return. He was also known for his participation in “Live at 75” Community Basketball League founded by his brother, Kenneth.

Terry enjoyed eating a good meal and the infamous "Puerto Rican Festival" held every summer in the family yard at 67 Monroe Street where he would sing, dance and laugh. Always a happy person, David was loved by many. He was witty and kept everyone around him amused with his uncanny sense of humor.

David is survived by one brother, Stephen (Phyllis); son, DeJuan (Alexandria) of Seattle, Washington; daughters, Latisha, Danette and Dajsha; and one grandson, Noah, all of Buffalo, New York. He is also survived by his aunt, Altagracia and one uncle, Raphael of Puerto Rico and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friendsHis son, David Deshawn, and three siblings, Kenneth (Charlotte), CleDel Maria and Martin Ortiz preceded him in death.
