Deacon Thomas "Tee" Allen, born May 9, 1950, In Buffalo, New York, to the late Willie and Fannie Allen, was a man whose heart was as big as his personality. Tee's journey on this earth was one filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family, faith, and community. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Betty Allen, brother, Larry (Sylvia) Allen, and was preceded in death by his beloved sister, renowned restaurateur Blondine "GI-GI" Harvin.
From an early age, Tee's academic and athletic talents shone brightly, A proud graduate of Seneca Vocational High School, his journey of learning began at Schools 6 and 48 and continued through Woodlawn Junior High School, Tee's natural abilities earned him a place at Howard University, where he briefly played football before transferring to SUNY Buffalo. A proud scholar-athlete, Tee was a vibrant figure in Buffalo's Masten District, known for his prowess in basketball, football, and swimming at the Masten Park Stadium pool.
In 1997, Tee dedicated his life to Christ, becoming a devoted member of True Bethel Baptist Church. His faith was evident in his service as a deacon and his joyful participation in the Power of Praise Men's Choir: His voice and spirit uplifted those around him, leaving a lasting legacy of worship and community devotion.
Professionally, Tee was a hardworking and skilled underground cable splicer for Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid) for over 30 years before retiring in 2005, Even in retirement, his love of work and people brought him back to roles at National Grid and Home Depot. Ultimately, Tee chose to focus on his greatest joy his family.
Known for his culinary talents, Tee was a master off outdoor cooking. His fried fish and seafood Fridays were legendary, as was his skill in frying turkey and crafting signature brines for smoked turkey) These meals were more than food they were acts of love, bringing people together and creating cherished memories.
Tee's life was anchored by his 48-year dedication to Betty (néo Ellerbee), the love of his life, dancing partner and his devoted companion. Together, they built a legacy of love, which included six children: Stacey, Martin (Jenise) Adams, Tanika (Ray) Shedrick, Thomasina, Keiana, and Amanda Allen. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Tee was affectionately known as "Grandpa" and "Pa-Pa" to Byron (Angelica), Jasmine, lonna, Rezen, Miles, Makinzee, Aubrielle, Trevor, Leighton, Cole Thomas, Daniel, Stephon, Jewel, Mason, and Sean. He cherished his sister-in-law's Winified and Deborah. He also held a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews, and godchildren, including DeShaun (Shana): Darrin, Elijah (Marcy), Louise, Justin, Shantelle, Shilo and Jillian, as well as his God sister, Pastor Rosetta Swain. John Camp-field was his dear childhood friend. To all who knew him, Tee was much more than his files and roles. He was a man whose kindness humor, and vibrant spirit lit up every
room. His jokes, infectious laugh, and deep faith made him a cherished presence in the lives of family, friends, and neighbors. Tee gave generously of himself, embodying the essence of community and unconditional love.
Deacon Thomas "Tee" Allen will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, cherished brother, and faithful friend. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. May his memory continue to inspire us to love deeply, serve joyfully, and live fully.
