Dennis E. Thompson

DENNIS EUGENE THOMPSON, 73 was bon in Buffalo, NY to the late Watty and Carrie Thompson.

He graduated with honors from Lafayette High School and attended the University of Buffalo.

Dennis went on to start his career at General Motors, where he worked as a Senior Financial Analyst for 39 years.  He was the first black person in history to work in a salaried position at the company.  Throughout his life, Dennis received many awards and recognitions from General Motors and was honored as a Top Black Achiever in 1980.

Dennis was preceded in death by his sister Rosie Todd; brothers:  Tommy and Watty Jr.; and a grandson Dennis Thompson III.

Dennis leaves behind his wife Josephine Thompson; six children: Denise (Abdoulaye) Thiam, Derine (Kim) Gaines, Leslie (Kevin) Gasaway, Dennis (Linda) Thompson, Sylvester (Dina) Elmore and Dionne Thompson whom Dennis and Josephine adopted.  Dennis also leaves to mourn, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2020 at House of Prayer, 60 Howard Street, Buffalo, New York 14206.   Funeral to follow at 12:00 pm.

Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
