Doris Ann Doss affectionately known a "Doris, Mama, Grandma and GGMA." Doris Ann Turner was born to the lete Mexise Ervin Turner and Caldonia Allen Turner on February 8, 1943 in Munford, Alabama. Later, her parents moved to Youngstown, Ohio in 1947. They lived was for several years then moved to Buffalo, NY. She completed her education through the Buffalo Public School system, attending Public School #31, Clinton Jr. High School and East High School. She furthered her learning attending: Dean Sawyer Medical School of Business, and Erie Community College pursuing a career in nursing.
Early employment included: Niagara Daycare, Buffalo Wax Factory, Trico Plant, US Ethicare Home Healthcare and Buffalo General Hospital. Doris worked at Buffalo General Hospital for 15 years as a Clinical Assistant in the Nursing Department, dedicating her life to the service of patients until an injury at work deemed her disabled. She loved being a caretaker and especially caring for children. Doris became a foster grandparent at Buffalo Women and Children's Hospital, caring for infants and children after they had surgery or were recovering from injuries. She would rock and feed the infants, read stories to toddlers, play games with them and nurturing them when the nurses and families were unable to. She was very proud of her position, which she held for ten years before taken ill.
Doris accepted Christ at a young age and rededicated her life to Christ in 2008. She was baptized and added to the Linwood Church of Christ where she was faithful and dedicated
Doris was a tough cookie, a strict disciplinarian with a petite body frame but make no mistake, she did not take any "mess." You knew you were in trouble if she balled up her fist and bit down on that first finger (a family trait). She was stern but also lovable and loved by many. She had a beautiful smile that would light up any room. Doris enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and card games with the family.
Doris was preceded in death by her late husband Eddie Doss; daughter Charlene H. Boho: son Anthony L. Wiggins; sisters: Merry (Glen) Ricks and Ethel (Kenneth) Johnson; brothers: William Irvin Turner and Ransome Lee Turner. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters: Pamela (Raynard) Scrivens, Faylene Jones and Tara Johnson; son Edwin Doyle; one brother Willie S. Turner of Arizona, stepdaughter Chandra Thomas; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends.
