Eddie B. Henderson, a Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother, and Friend to many, passed away peacefully on March 30th 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 87. Our loving Mother was Born in Hughes, Arkansas on June 23rd 1937, and she was known most of all for loving her family’s children fervently! NaNa, as she is affectionately known by all, was a true servant of the Lord and would give her last for those she loved. NaNa’s life was marked by her resilience, strength, and her firm but kind disposition. As a single Mother, she gave up her own ambitions for the sake of raising her three sons: Alfred Jr. (Freddie), James, and Stephon (Ray). The Matriarch of our maternal line, her legacy further blossomed with 8 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, and other family and friends.

Eddie was educated in the Hughes Arkansas school system, and after completing her course of study, she migrated North to Buffalo NY to pursue employment. This pursuit resulted in her career at Trico products where she retired after 33 years of faithful service.

Eddie enjoyed diverse interests that included league bowling where she often qualified for many awards and trophies, cooking, and participating in hot wing eating contests! In her twilight years, poised to demonstrate continuing service to others, she encouraged and shared meaningful times of fellowship at her favorite senior center.

NaNa’s life was an enriching legacy, embodied by her unwavering support and her example of endurance against all odds. Her presence was an inspiration to all, and will continue to guide us.

Her story is not and end, but will continue to resonate throughout our generations. She leaves to mourn her memory, her son James(Deborah), Stephon(Tiffany), and a host of other friends and relatives. Her oldest son Alfred Jr, preceded her in death. Siblings Estella Nance, Roberta Smith, Alberta Taylor, and Lemmie Smith. Preceding her in death are siblings Mary Williams, Walter Davis, Nathaniel Smith, James Wright, Nora Chambers, Victoria McClellan(Clarence), and Winnie Kidd.
