ELIZABETH ILA WARDLAW was born November 11, 1939 in Greenville, South Carolina. She was the eldest daughter of the late Olin and Shirley Wardlaw.
In 1972, she united in matrimony with Mujahid Rashada. She was a dedicated mother to seven children: LaVette Dorcine, Daniel (Rhonda) Dyena, Isaiah, Nadiyah, Aisha (Jermaine) and Farah (Antoine); a loving grandmother of 16: Cheyenne, Michael, David, Khalid, Kameron, Keyira, Isaiah, Maryum, Nassir, Ila, Naeem, Ilayah, Irshard and three of whom preceded her in death; an affectionate great-grandmother to Amir; a devoted sister to James Wardlaw, Shirley Olivia, Ikum Karriam, all whom preceded her in death and Rasheeda Mustafa.
Elizabeth attended Buffalo Public Schools #31, #51, and #74. she graduated from Bennett High School, class of 1957. After high school, she worked at Swartz Laundry and Bethlehem Steel in Data Entry. She also worked at Talbert & Elliott Mull in accounting.
At the age of 23, Elizabeth joined the Nation of Islam. Later, she continued her faith with the United Nation of Islam. Elizabeth produced two cable television programs, “It’s Time to Know” and “The Whole Truth.” Elizabeth loved Allah, and continued her growth and development with the Value Creators.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory seven children, three sons and daughters-in-laws, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one sister, her Buffalo, Cleveland, Kansas City and South Carolina families, who foundly called her “Sister,” and a host of other loving family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 23, 2018, 12 noon at Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore Street, Buffalo, New York 14211.
