Eric Wilson Obituary

ERIC F. Wilson, of Buffalo, New York entered into rest on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the age of 67.  He is preceded in death by his parents Percy Sr. and Emma Lee Wilson, brother Percy Jr., sisters Doris and Carlotta and beloved son Benjamin.

Eric was born on February 16, 1951 in Buffalo, New York, the youngest child of five.  He attended P.S. 74 and graduated from Bennett High School.  After high school 'RICKY", as he was known by family and friends, began a career in the retail industry.  He started out with W.T. Grant's in sales and advanced to management positions with national retail chain K-Mart.  Ricky loved cooking, and his sons Devin and Jason said,

"He communicated through his cooking.  You knew he loved you or was apologizing when he cooked for you".

His grandchildren were the light of his life!  He felt especially blessed for grandchildren JB and Makayla and the two grandchildren he gained with his son's marriage in 2015, DeShaan and Myah.  Just the mention of them inquires of how they were and what they were up to brought a huge smile to his face.

Growing up, Ricky's sons fondly recall the 'midnight breakfasts' their parents would cook while playing music.  Devin and Jason said, "They would cook scrambled eggs, bacon and cinnamon toast, and it was really midnight or later!"  Devin said that he owes his love  of music to both parents.  The camping trips to Letchworth State Park with campfires, hiking and fishing are fond memories for the brothers.  Devin also remembers that his dad had the greatest lawn in their Amherst neighborhood.

Much admired is his Father's generosity to others.  Ricky was well known for the many thoughtful gifts that he gave to family and friends.  Ricky's later years were spent battling a chronic lung disease, with his final years spent at the Newfane Rehabilitation Center.  This allowed him to be closer to his son Devin and his family.

Eric 'Ricky' Wilson is survived by his two sons, Devin (Tiffany) of Lockport, New York and Jason of Clermont, Florida, grandchildren John "JB" and  Makayla, sister Margaret Richardson, sister-in-law Rosetta Wilson who he lived with after the death of his mother.  He considered her a mother and his nieces and nephews his siblings.  They are Cheryl (Alonzo) Barnes, Michael (Joyce), Anthony (Dell), Ivy, Karen (Derek, Sr.) Brim, Jennifer (Robert) Allen, Byron (Sharon) and Alison.  Also Mark and Tracie Richardson of California.  In addition to those listed he leaves to mourn his passing a large number of great-nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.

Family will receive friends 1 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, New York 14215.  Funeral to follow at 2 p.m.
