Ethel Bryant Obituary

Ethel Marie Bryant . The name of a woman anyone who is reading or hearing this likely loved and cared about her in some shape or form. She began her journey on January 11, 1953, at Millard Fillmore Hospital Gates circle to the late Carrie Mae and Clarence Bryant. She was the second oldest of five children. She was named for her late great Aunt, Ethel Kaigler.

The person she would live to become would be the result of the character she would develop. A character marked by a spirit of caring, concern, generosity, selflessness, righteousness, dedication, unyielding faith, and fierce independence. There was nothing she wouldn't do for you, whatever you needed, she would offer her support.  She was known to enjoy sports, like golf, and she was an avid Bills fan. Listening to music was also one of her interests. Her musical tastes ran the gamut, from musicals,  R&B, pop, and of course, gospel. Education also played a key role in her life, as she was a brilliant thinker with a blessed intellect.  She was educated in the Buffalo Public System, where she attended PS #53 ,and Bennett High School. College was SUNY Fredonia, and Daemen College, where she graduated in 1978 with a bachelor’s in business administration.

While she attended school, she worked part time jobs, starting with UB, along with her mother and brother, David , in food service. She then moved into various finance positions. She worked at Goldome Bank, Health Care Plan (which is now Univera). She always kept herself moving. When she was between jobs, she worked various temp assignments, to keep her skills up, not to mention, have some money in her pocket.

After several different jobs, she landed at the place that would define her career. Through her late Uncle James Bryant, he pulled some strings, and got her in Buffalo General Hospital. This was the place where she would made her mark. In the 28 years she was employed with the hospital, she moved from Patient Accounting, to her defiining position at the Corporate office of Kaleida Health, as a level 4 Systems Analyst. When she got the Systems Analyst postion, she did not actively seek the position, they approached her, and asked her if she wanted to go into IT. She remained at the Corporate office, until she retired in 2016.

Over the last 9 years, Ethel' s health started to decline, having different issues, and was not able to come out to church as much as she would have liked. When she was able, she sang in the Adult choir, and was the choir's secretary, she was on the church's computer comittee when they first started getting into putting computers in the church.

Ethel Marie Bryant lived a full, and blessed life. On May 3, 2025, she quietly slipped away into eternal life. She is survived by her two Sisters, Elaine J (Willie) Bell, and Brenda D. Bryant. She is also survived by her brother David A (Kelita) Sr., and her very special nephew David A. Bryant Jr. She was predeceased by her parents, and one brother, Kenneth C. Bryant. Ethel also survived by a number of Cousins, and close friends and colleagues.
