Irene Jones Brown

IRENE JONES BROWN was born August 29, 1936 to the late  Charlie and Ida Bell Jones in Evergreen, Alabama.

Irene attended Conecuh County High School in Evergreen, Alabama. She relocated to Buffalo, New York in 1954. Irene worked for several restaurants and for Cadet Cleaners as a presser until retirement. Irene enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home.

Irene was a kindhearted, giving, loving, and caring individual. She was also a faithful worker. Irene was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joe L. Fisher.

On June 3, 2019, Irene was called from earthly labor to heavenly reward after a lengthy illness at home under the watch of Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

Irene leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted daughter,   Diane (Reggie) Daniels; stepdaughter, Nadine (Raymond) Jackson; one sister, Inez Dees; one brother, Willie D. (Dinah) Jones; grandsons: Murray Thomas, William Turley, Deon, Shawn, and Donta Daniels; granddaughter, Alicia; great-grandsons: Duane Loyd, Davon Thomas, Javon Thomas, Romell Turley, Deon Jr and Davon; great-granddaughters: Torianna Harris, Murriah Thomas, Taniya and Neveah; Goddaughters: Jacqueline, Nedra (Milton) Thomas, Felincia and Melanie, and a host of other loving family and friends.

Preceding Irene in death are her parents; one beloved granddaughter,  Chondra L. Olbert; brothers, Mamond Jones, Charlie Jones Jr., Nathaniel Jones, and Lee Andrew “LA” Jones; one sister, Gloria Jones; and one sister-in-law, Delores A. Williams.

Family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2019, 11am at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Homes, 2528 Bailey Ave. Funeral to follow at 12 noon. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
