James Battles Sr.AR Obituary

JAMES MARVIN BATTLES SR. "JIMMY", 65 was born on August 21, 1954 in Elyria, Ohio to Mary E. Battles and Alfred Cheetham.  Jimmy relocated to Buffalo, New York in 1956 where he attended school in the Buffalo Public Schools District.  Jimmy also attended church and accepted Christ at a early age.

Jimmy met Christine Burton in the 70's where he pursued her until she surrendered to his charming ways.  Jimmy was a real charmer; Christine could not resist.  After a long relationship, Christine finally gave in and married Jimmy.  The two were blessed to have been married 30 years.

Jimmy received his wings suddenly at his home on October 4th, 2019.  Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Paula Louise Battles; his niece, Tamika Nicole Battles; and his eldest daughter, Tamiko Johnson.

Jimmy is survived by the love of his life-his wife Christine Burton-Battles; three children, James Linnier Harrington, James Battles Jr., and Shontay Battles; six grandchildren, Chrishauna, Tiana, Ariel, Archie, A'Kye, and Shariah; two great-grandchildren, Davion and Sha'Leeah; his mother , Mary E. Battles;  one brother, Kevin; three sisters; Helena, Earnestine, and Hanija Mumin; and a host of of cousins, nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles and friends.

Family will receive friends 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Providence Memorial Chapel, 1275 Sycamore Street, Buffalo, New York 14211.
