James Long Obituary

JAMES E. LONG was born September 28, 1957 in Buffalo, New York to Rebecca Long and the late James W. Long.  James entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Christmas Day.

James accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Buffalo, New York.  James graduated from Lafayette High School and later received his Bachelors Degree in BUsiness Management from Johnson C. Smith College in North Carolina.  He worked security at the Hyattand Millard Fillmore Hospital, and New York State Department of Psychiatric Center until he retired.

After visiting several churches, in 2014, James found his home at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Edward Jackson, Jr. where he was an active and faithful member.  His love for singing led him to the choir.  He attended church, unless he was caring for his mother.

James, also lovingli known as "Spoody", was a loving, father, brother, and caring son who provided nothing but unconditional love his family.  He was an avid barbecue "Pit Master" and Buffalo enthusuast.  He loved gardening, dressing to the nine and cruisin in style.

James was preceded in death by his father James W. Long; two brother-in-laws Gary Ransom and Fredrick Howard.  He leaves many beautiful memories with his mother Rebecca Long; daughters Andrea (James) Johnson, Elonda (Dion) Craion, Darlene (George) Gates, Ryan Long; son Samuel Mara; three sisters Vickie Williams, Yvonne Long-Howard, and Yvette (Richard) Ransom; three grandchildren Jaion Johnson, Jayla Johnson and James Johnson, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Family will receive friends 12:00 p.m Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church, 402 Clinton Street, Buffalo, New York 14204.  Funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m.
