Jonnie M. Martin

JONNIE MAE MARTIN, was born on January 27, 1944 to Johnnie W.P. and Ida Mae (nee Curry) Henderson in Washington, Georgia.

She moved to Buffalo, New York at the age of 16.  She attended East High School and graduated in 1960, while there she met her future husband Gary Martin, who, she maried in 1962.

Jonnie Mae continued her education at Deaconess Nursing School whe she attained her LPN.  She also attended Buffalo State College where she attained her Masters Degree in Political Science and Social Work.

She strived for achievments.  She was a very savvy business woman, by attaining her Insurance Brolerage License, she sold insurance for Allstate Insurance Company at Sears & Robucks for many years.  During her time there she attained her Real Estate License and sold property for many years.  She went in to work for Blue Cross & Blue Shieldin their Brokerage Department and retired in 2009.

Jonnie Maae enjoyed reading a lot (Bookworm) in her leisure time.  She loved fishing, shopping, visiting the Indian Reservation, throwing daggers and playing her electric piano.  She also enjoyed watching Rev. Jimmy Swaggart Television Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ida Mae Henderson and husband Gary Martin.

Jonnie Mae lives on though her two daughters: Yolanda S. Martin and Pastor Tracey (Albert) Weech of Royal Palm Beach, Florida.  She also leaves many cousins and friends to cherish her memory.

Family will receive friends 1:00 pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, New York 14206.  Funeral to follow at 2:00 pm.  In compliance with the public health guidelines during the Covid-19 Pandemic, visitation will be monitored to limit gathering sizes based on the most current recommendations and a mask must be worn at all times.

Interment Pine Lawn Cemetery, Cheektowaga, New York.
