The Legacy & Life of Loretta Anne Wiggins
Loretta Anne Reed (Wiggins) born September 18th, 1956 to Wilhelmina & the Late Hazel Reed Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4th, 2025 at a young 68 years of age. Her transition was quiet, sacred, and full of love-surrounded by the very family she lived and sacrificed for, every day.
Loretta was raised in Buffalo, NY, where she graduated from East High School. She also pursued some college courses. Although she worked as a manager for several companies, she always knew her greatest calling was not found in classrooms or careers, but in the fierce, unwavering love she gave to her children. Raising her family, was her definition of success.
She was a woman of strength, faith, and unshakable generosity. Loretta was the embodiment of selflessness. She gave without hesitation, helped without condition, and loved without limits. A deep rooted Christian, she evolved in her later years into a spiritual woman grounded in compassion, grace, and Christ-like living. She would often say, "When I get to the pearly gates, all I want to hear is,'Job well done.'" And we believe with all of our hearts, that God welcomed her with those very words.
Loretta overcame many challenges in life. She had over 30 years clean and sober a testament to her strength and her commitment to those she loved. She raised four children as a single mother in the heart of Buffalo, with nothing but her faith and her grit. No matter what she faced, she never gave up on her children. And because of her example, each of them have built a life rooted in love, faith, and pride.
She is survived by her mother Wilhelmina Reed, her estranged husband and a legacy defined by her children: Lonnie (Tammie) Barleston, Stacia (George Jr.)Martin, Ali (Shelbya) Hunter, and Isaac (Jameka) Garmon. Her grandchildren are: Tiffany Brown, Aliyah Clark, Whitney Brown, Diamante Barleston, Tamia Barleston, Camisha Hill, Camille Hill, Nakeiya Graham, George Martin III, Autumn Martin, Geena Martin, Amir Hunter, Amiah Hunter, KashmierHunter, Isyis Garmon, and in loving memory of Ni'jana Graham.
She is also remembered by her growing legacy of great grandchildren, Keyonte Martin, Alana Fisher, and Ta'hani Hunter. Loretta displayed Christ-like love in every moment, and even in her final hours, she used her last breath to say, "I love you." That was her gospel-and she lived it out loud. In the end, Loretta didn't just raise a family. She built a legacy. She didn't just live a life, She fulfilled a calling. And when her time came, her job was complete.
Well done, Loretta. lob well done.
