Mary Magdalene Johnson, born on July 19, 1930, in Lackawanna, New York, peacefully passed away on March 26, 2024, in Buffalo, New York, at the age of 93. She was a strong matriarch, known for her loving, giving nature, and her nurturing spirit.

Mary had a successful career as a brilliant entrepreneur, best known as Regional Manager of Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and was a devoted member of Sunrise Church of Christ Disciples and Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Mary Magdalene Johnson is survived by her loving daughters, Nitanju Casel and Aisha Kahlil, grandson Obadele Casel, son-in-law Tayari Casel, sister Lucille Herring, and brother Charles Battle. She is preceded in death by her husband Stephen C. Johnson, her parents - Henry & Flossie Battle, and siblings Rayfield, Rose, Theodore, and James Battle.

Services to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 701 E. Delavan Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215. The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. The Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home at 2528 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, New York 14215, is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Mary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
