Maurice Baines

MAURICE BAINES was born June 30, 1963 in Buffalo, NY; he was one of four cildren to Junius L. Baines Sr and Pauline (Harris) Baines.

As a young man, Maurice was nicknamed "Maurice the Beast" because he was mean on the football field, possessing above average playing skills when he played for his Alma Mater, Bennett High School, where his photographs are proudly displayed. 

Maurice loved studying the bible for hours at a time, often all day and well into the night. He knew many chapters and verses by heart. Maurice very much enjoyed the brotherhood and fellowship with his uncle, the late Rev. Robert E. Baines, and with the members of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, sharing many spirited conversations.

Maurice is preceded in death by his father, Junius Sr.; his youngest brother, Rodney L. Baines, and older brother, Junius L. Baines.

He leaves to mourn his mother, Pauline (Harris) Baines; daughter, Gianina Ciani Hidalgo Baines; sons, Maurice Rio Baines and Moses Baines (Karen Smith); sister, Lydia (Butler) Baines; grandchildren, Jalen J, Jordan J, and Jason Wilson and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 1pm at St. Matthew's Cemetery, 180 Old French Rd, W. Seneca, NY 14224
