Nena Foster Aljuwani Obituary

NENA LYNISE FOSTER ALJUWANI, born October 11, 1964 to the late Carolyn Dozier and Beverly Allen Foster of Buffalo, New York entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2020.

Nena was educated in Buffalo Public School System and was a graduate of South Park High School.  Nena had aspirations of becoming a Nurse but ultimately followed in her Mother's footsteps and enrolled in Beauty School.

Nena accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a teen and was baptized under the leadership of the Late Bishop Charles H. McCoy.  Nena was a very active member of her home church , Pentecostal Temple COGIC, where she loved  singing in both the Youth and Young Adult Choirs (where her loud soprano voice stood out).  She also participated in several school choruses and would sing anywhere or anytime she felt the need  to.  Goin Up Yonder was one of her favorite songs.

Nena loved to laugh, love, sing and flirt!  She was most happy when she was surrounded by family, friends and strangers alike.  She always welcolmed & enjoyed the company of others.  A person would visit her and she'd find a million reasons to extend their visit longer than they may have intended.  Despite her being plagued andmyriad of medical issuses, she always managed a big, beautiful wide gapped smile, while wearing her signature red lipstick (cherry jubilee from AVON), which she left on plenty of cheeks during all social gatherings & family functions.  To know her was to love her.  Nena was a fighter until the end when God decided to call her home.

Nena was preceded in death by both her parents, Carolyn & "Bell" Allen, her firstborn child, son Demetrius S.T. Foster and brother Allen "Kato" McWilson.

She was united in holy matrimony to Yusef Aljuwani and in this union reared one daughter, Keonna.  Nena leaves to cherish her memory her Step-Mother Rita Neal-McKissack; 3 daughters Shonita White (Jerry), Keonna Aljuwani and Emilia Santiago; 10 grand children Darius, Damarion, Pretty, Ja'lela, Zionna, Nataya, DeMaury, Emilianna, Emilianno and Chillianno; Siblings Tamara Dozier, Nicole Stafford-King (Ivan), Adrienne, Bell (Chantel), Syreeta, Today and Keywon (plus an honorable mention Duane "Twig" Mathis); multiple nieces & nephews Taquora, DeVante, Damone, Breanna, Dejuan, Dayshone, LaTasha, Kamilah, Justin, Alexus, Endia, Taijane, Courtney, Xamariea, Jaccarri, McKaylah, Jaylon, Trinity, Versai, Phaness,  Tamauri, Aiden, Dontae', Aaliyah, Tamauriana, Today, Jr., Szamiyah, Azailynn, Lakeisha and an abundance of cousins (3 of her favorites, being Laurence Crump, Tony Foster, and Vondalyn Day) as well as a host of other relatives & friends too numerous to mention.

The world was truly a brighter place because Nena Lynise Foster Aljuwani was it!
