Robert Simpson Obituary

ROBERT L. SIMPSON, was born June 10, 1934, a joval baby boy was born to Bernice Simpson.  Bobby was raised in Meadville, PA,  where he told many wonderful and exciting stories to his family about his growing up.  Roberys grandchildren thought he was the most exciting man in Meadvillr, PA public school system until he was 10 years old and his mother sent him to live withhis great grandmothet in Akron, Ohio because of illness.  Bobby remained with his great grandmother until her passing, when he was 15 years old.  His mom sent for him to come to Buffalo, NY to live with her.  He graduated from Fonsdick Masten High School and immediately went into the Navy where he served 2 years and received an honorable discharge for his service to our country.

Bobby worked at Metro Bus for 30 Years where he worked as a driver, and then a Street Supervisor.

I was his workplace, Metro Bus, there he met the love of his life in 1982.  Bob and Gloria were inseparable from the that time until his death.  They met and married within the year, and settled down to what life had to offer.  Bobby had two sons and Gloria had a daughter.  Life was busy with raising children, working, college, and in addition to working Bob and Gloria were the proud owners of Flashy Toppers Boutique, a hat shop where people gathered not only for merchandise, butconversation that uplifted everyone.  They had the boutique for 17 years.

Bobby was an avid bowler.  He bowled on 3 different leagues and was a very good bowler.  Bobby loved spending time in his garden, planting flowers, mowing the lawn and designing the landscape.  He loved it when Gloriasaid, " the yard looks wonderful."  He always joked, I don't buy my wife flowers, I grow her flowers  Above all, his best time was spent socializing and spending time with family.  He loved cooking beside Gloria knowning that aholiday was coming and the family would be gathering.  He loved summer barbeques, getting up early to help in any way that he could.  He and Gloria loved traveling, cruising, and taking the grands on vacation every year.

Bob was a faithful member of the Linwood Church of Christ for over 30 years, where he faithfully served until he started having health issues.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother Bernice Shepard, son Brendan Simpson, and Brother-in-law, Lester Bradley.

Bobby leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife of almost 38 years, Gloria, son Barrett Simpson (Miya), daughter RaShawn Herndon (Leo), Granddaughters, Madonns, Iyana, Brianna, Brendia, RaShawndra (Enuel), Dejanira (Maksim), Sierra, Leah, and Nyrelle, and inherited granddaughter Ly Nguyen.  Sister-in-laws Denise, and Vanessa (Bobby), and special niece and nephew Kenneth Byers and Lorren McElven, and friend Kenny Byers.  Bobby had one great granddaughter, Nora, who loved her Papa so much, and a host of cousins and friends.

Family will receive friends 11:00 am Friday, July 3, 2020 at Linwood Church of Christ, 2523 Main St.,Buffalo, New York.  Funeral to follow at 12:00 pm.  In compliance with the public health guidelines during the Covid-19 Pandemic, visitation will be monitored to limit gathering sizes based on the most current recommendations and a mask must be worn at all times.

Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, New York
