Wayne Ashley Obituary

WAYNE DARNELL ASHLEY was alert to the call of GOD, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 6:00 p.m.  He answered quickly and ascended to Heaven to rest.

Wayne was born on August 10, 1951, in Buffalo, New York to he union of Alex and Juanita Perryman Ashley, the youngest of two sons.

Wayne was educated in Buffalo, New York and later graduated from Boys Vocational High School.

Shortly after turning 18 years old, after the passing of his mother; Wayne and his brother moved to Los Angles, CA to live with their maternal grandmother and two aunts.

It was in Los Angles, CA where he rededicated his life to Christ: once again proclaiming Jesus Christ as his Savior and LORD, under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Cora Lee Morris, Founder and Pastor of The First Akasha Foundation, Inc. Church: where Wayne was very active and served diligently in the choir, Youth  Department and Outreach Ministry.

Wayne was employed at the U.S. Post -Los Angles Terminal Annex Central Mail Processing Facility.  Wayne was family oriented, a devoted husband, loving father, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and a great friend.  He really loved us, always helpful and a great cook; his specialty was Soul Food:  "Fried or Grilled Chicken, Fish, Ribs, Beans and Rice, Cabbage Greens, etc."  Always Cornbread!!!!

On July 12, 1974, Susie and Wayne Ashley were joined together in holy matrimony and to this union, two children were born.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Alex T. Sr. and Mrs. Juanita P. Ashley; The Lov of His Life: Mrs. Susie Pearl Lias Ashle; father-in-law, Jacob Lias Sr., and three brother-in-laws Robert, Jacob Jr. and David Lias.

He leaves to cherish his memories; His daughter Vercanita "Tootsie" Ashley of Buffalo, NY, and his son Mr. Benjamin "Ben" Smith of Buffalo, NY; two grandsons: Mr. Antonio Shaw Jr. and Mr. Wauyne Shaw, both of Buffalo, NY; one granddaughter, Brianna Smith of Chicago, ILL; a Loving mother-in-law, Nancy Lias, his eldest brother Alex T. Ashley Jr., of L.A., CA; two aunts: Evg. Veronica Morris of San Diego, CA.:Elder Mosetta Humphries, and her son  Charles Humphries both of Los Anles, CA.; six sister-in-law's, Gloria Bell Lias, of Memphis, TN, Priscilla Lias-Michalski (Daniel), Brenda Lias-Walker (Raymond), Gloria  Lias-Baker (Kenneth), Sandra Lias, all of Buffalo, NY and Nancy Lias of Las Vegas, NV.  atwo brother-in-law's, Samuel Lias (Maria) of Cedar Hill, TX and Andrew Lias (Cherie) of Buffalo, NY; and a loving host of relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m  on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home, 2528 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, New York 14215.  Funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment St. John's Cemetery, Cheektowaga, New York.
