Verla M (McClain) DeBose

VERLA M. DEBOSE, affectionately known as "Cool V," was born in Greenville, Alabama to the parents of Cellie and the late Ruben McClain.  Verla moved to Niagara Falls, NY with her parents and 12 siblings.  Verla departed this life February 8, 2017 in Buffalo, NY surrounded by the love of her children.

She met Calvin Feagins and to this union two children were born.  Verla then moved to Buffalo, NY, where she met and married her beloved husband, the late Fredrick DeBose Sr, who together, they were blessed with three children.  Verla was a homemaker and after the passing of her husband, became a single mother of five.  During this time, she worked at Rich Products for several years.  She was gainfully employed by the Buffalo Board of Education as a Bus Monitor for 15 years, doing what she loved best: being around and working with kids.  Verla never missed a day of work, loving "pay day," strutting in there with her red purse.

Verla was one of the coolest lady's one could ever encounter, thus adapting the name "Cool V."  You could always catch her with some shades on and her red lipstick.

Verla enjoyed shopping and enjoying outings with her mother and siblings.  Win or Lose, she loved her Buffalo Bills! (She has a collection of items)  She also loved to dance and to have fun with her children and grandchildren.

Verla leaves to cherish her sweet memories her mother, Cellie McClain; companion, Dewey Edwards; five children, Sonji (Norbert) Collins, Alice Feagins, Teresa (Shawn) Ford, Fredrika (Jay) DeBose, and Fredrick (Cigi) DeBose Jr; 23 grandchildren, Diandra, Dwayne, Isaiah, Wanda, William, Johniqua, Carla (Zack), Biggie, Tyresha, Ja'onna, Robert, Rene, Fred, Jacara, Kyarah, Kayla, Kaleb, Caron, Aviance, Rockie, Benjamin, Chaquita, and Amari; 24 great-grandchildren, five sisters, Joyce, Wanda, Lela, Betty and Angie; four brothers, Adelle, Arthur, Jerome and James, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  She also had a special love for "her twins," Lariah and Shariah (her daughters).

Preceding Verla in death is her husband, Fredrick DeBose; her father, Ruben McClain; one brother, Robert McClain and two sisters, Annie Smith and Ruby Roseboro.

departed this life February 10, 2017.  She leaves to mourn a host of family and friends.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 14, 2017, 10am at Midtown Bible Church, 1722 Main St. Funeral to follow at 11am.
