CHARLENE CRUMP-JOHNSON was born in Memphis, TN to Mattie and Charles Crump, Sr., August 16, 1950 in Detroit, MI, where she was raised and schooled by her paternal father, grandmother, and aunt. At the age of 13 years old, she relocated to Buffalo, NY, where she grew up with her mother and stepfather, Mattie and Melvin Rodgers. Charlene met and married Eddie Johnson. All have preceded her death. She later moved to Dallas, TX and united with St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lelious A. Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her five children, Arnett Groves, Melvin Crump, Shawn M. Garrette, Andre Banks and Latrice Leonard; one brother, Charles H. Crump, III (Robin) of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Maryann Gladley of Buffalo, NY and Kimberly Crump-Adams (Kenneth) of Cedar Hill, TX; two step-sisters, Brenda Esters Spence of Duncanville, TX and Beverly Coplin of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, July 15, 2017 for the Graveside Service at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 124 Greymont Ave., Ebernezer, NY.
